Woman, age 43, found dead in freezing yard after falling while taking dog outside

A 43-year-old woman has died from suspected hypothermia after reportedly going outside to walk her dog in her pajamas and falling.

On Sunday, January 19, authorities responded to a call around 11:00 AM to a home in Willard, Ohio. There, they discovered the body of Eugenia Michele Wadman outside her residence on Hanville Corners Road.

Initial investigations indicate that Wadman had gone outside to walk her dog while wearing light pajamas. Police believe she fell and sustained injuries that made it difficult for her to get up. Evidence suggests she struggled and crawled in a yard covered in snow and ice before her death.

While her death is not considered suspicious, it is suspected to have been caused by hypothermia. An autopsy is planned, and the investigation is ongoing.

This tragedy is part of a larger pattern, as three other people in Ohio are believed to have died from suspected hypothermia, according to WCPO. These include a man in Norwood, a 94-year-old woman in Franklin, and an 83-year-old man in Cincinnati.

In response, Huron County Public Health posted a message on Facebook on January 22, urging residents to be aware of the signs of frostbite and hypothermia and the differences in symptoms.
