Usha Vance, wife of VP JD Vance, is a new trustee at Trump’s reshaped Kennedy Center

This story has been updated to correct the Cincinnati neighborhood in which the Vances live.

Second lady Usha Vance is one of several new trustees appointed by President Donald Trump at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.

The Washington, D.C. performing arts center lists 31 trustees on its website, including Trump, all of whom were “appointed by the president of the United States.” A White House press release said Usha will serve out the remainder of former member Christopher Korge’s term, which ends Sept. 1, 2028.

From 2020 to 2022, Usha served on the board of the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra. She and her husband Vice President JD Vance own a home in Cincinnati’s East Walnut Hills neighborhood.

Last week on Truth Social, Trump announced he would take the reins of the Kennedy Center as its new chairman, firing multiple trustees “who do not share our Vision for a Golden Age in Arts and Culture.” Trump also said the center previously featured drag shows, which “will stop.”

In his post, Trump said he would fire former chairman David Rubenstein, but a press release on the center’s website shows Rubenstein planned to retire in January.

The cultural and performing arts center was designated as a living memorial to Former President Kennedy after he was assassinated. It is home to the National Symphony Orchestra and Washington National Opera, and attracts millions of visitors each year for thousands of performances, according to its website.
